Each year, Under the Blue Moon Festival, Sydney's little festival of the unusual, darkly beautiful & downright quirky makes it orbital landing in the alternative arts district of Enmore-Newtown.

This year the blue moon landing pad is The Sandringham Hotel and a Launch Party straight out of a Twilight Zone episode as directed by David Lynch...a Launch party where lady monsters performing burlesque is the norm, where life size Surgical Sideshow puppets operate on our artistic domestic economy and where headliner band, Toydeath, coerce all their music from tortured electronic toys!

They have collected an arsenal of toys to make any kindergarten green with envy.

You will hear talking Dolls (Barbie, Jesus and George Bush!), Speak and Spells, Rock Guitars, Sax-a-booms, Toy Telephones and lots of other fantastic Toys! Toydeath have also collected toys from their international tours and may use Chinese, Dutch, German and Japanese language toys in their performance.

Toydeath use circuit bending to hand modify the Toys allowing them to be amplified and extend their sonic capabilities. They also assume toy like characters with colourful costumes as part of their stage show. On stage you will see GiJoe, L’Booby, Nursey and Bullet Broof Barbie!

And if that isn't enough to release your inner bat then you can enjoy & even join in a demo. of the latest craze to hit vaudeville, 'goth fusion bellydancing' by the lovely Fee of Gypsy Noir. Discount Blue Moon cocktails and beer all night. Come on Sydney..it's time for your antidote to the mundane!

SUGICAL SIDESHOW
..in a remote corner of the imagination, a children's show has been taken over by its silent mascots. The host can no longer speak and strange, atmospheric sounds accompany the increasingly bizarre behaviour.
It may be worth noting, at this point, that the mascots have giant skulls for heads... ...they also share a fanatical love for spontaneous surgery...

FEE OF GYPSY NOIR
Fee is one half of the well known dance duo GypsyNoir, who’s signature style is a unique and darkly theatrical dance that defies a firm label. Various styles of Bellydance converge with other contemporary dance styles and artistic themes. Appearing solo this year as “Mademoiselle Mona Cromatique”, she is inspired by silent movie screen divas and presents a unique expression of dance heavily influenced by Gothic, Art Deco and Nouveau stylings.
