Under the Blue Moon will be holding its first Photographic exhibition in conjunction with photographer a University Lecturer in Photography, who been researching the area of Dark/Alternative Portraiture for many years, and is curating a show that features the work of Australia’s leading dark/alternative photographers.
This photographic exhibition is a celebration of alternative culture through the photographers gaze. This show is a portrait exhibition meaning that it will require individuals to submit strictly to the ideas of portraiture. In future years there may be the opportunity for a more encompassing photographic approach but this year there will be a tight focus on creating portraits of an Alternate Australia. The photograph has an interesting relationship with the object it is documenting, and an exploration of this relationship is crucial to understanding, recording and documenting culture. Through our chosen medium we may design these memories, and output a show that poses questions, and seeks viewer response. If you are interested in participating please email

letting me know you are interested in participating by Friday 21st of August 2009. Then following the details listed send a CD to the address given in the body of text with files/statements by Friday the 18th of September.
This is a curated show as there will be limited wall space. We simply will not have time to offer feedback on why images did, or did not make it into the show. Your CD’s may however be held, and in the event that another show arises that your work will fit into, OR, more wall space becomes available, you will be contacted and notified and asked for your involvement and consideration. Sending files does not guarantee your work will be shown, we know you understand, so get creating and give us our best! I do hope you are interested in this fantastic opportunity to showcase what I consider the best dark alternative photography in his country! |
