The Sydney Fringe and Under The Blue Moon present Lunarmorph 2010

Lunarmorph a fashion parade like no other will be accompanied by a 32 vintage synthesizer orchestra in the pit.  Alternative fashion devotees & music geeks alike will appreciate hearing & seeing the machines that made the sounds of ‘Blue Monday’, and ‘Dr Who’  morphing with eye popping  alternative fashion of the highest and most avant-garde character…totally befitting for Sydney’s first Fringe Festival.

The Steampunk Symposium in the deco foyer of the Enmore Theatre will entertain you for the afternoon hours before Lunarmorph launches in the evening. Gentleman Adventurer, Stewart Rule & steam punk inventor, Sir Dij Dijor host this afternoon of strange contraptions from an alternative time stream -  expect time machines, Tesla coils, steam punk sellers of ray guns and special guests to entertain you with steam punk burlesque and vaudeville.  Prizes for the best steam punk costumes will be awarded! (what is steampunk?)

“Of air and rubber’. Playful fashion; intricately deigned and hand woven of balloons by the nimble hands of master magician, Ben Orson.   Bespoke alternative fashion; twisted, crafted and molded to each quirky and creative individual.  Air cushioned clothing of intricate designs to suit those special occasions. The Aztecs created the first inflatable as a sacrifice to the gods.  Balloons are now rather a symbol of fun and a metaphor of celebration 500 years latter it has advanced to an art form that almost defy the laws of nature as well as an exciting new entertainment medium for adults and children alike.  Most of us have seen a clown twist the humble one balloon into the shape of a sausage dog; even though this often looks more like a sausage than a dog.  Imagine now more than 200 individually blown balloons delicately woven into patterns to finally create a garment. Ben is a master magician, juggler and balloon artist.  Despite his adroit and sleight of hand expertise each dress takes approximately 10 hours to weave and has a life expectancy directly proportionate to how much one smokes or sews. Elegant and fun, it has to be “Of air and rubber”.
